Hmmmm...what's the first date of winter? It's in December, right? So, photos I took in my folks' yard in early December still count as fall photos, right? Heh.

Purty, eh? I can't decide if I like the pine needle hanging over the leaf or not.

Fall colors, part 8

We went back to Buescher State Park again late in November (here's a link to the first photo from our hike in September) and it was cloudy for most of the day. Which led to some rather boring photos. The sun did pop out from behind the clouds for the last 10 minutes or so of our second hike and I managed to get a few decent photos. I'm only gonna share this one, though...

Butterflies and lantana

I got to work one day last fall and there was a bunch (flock? gaggle? school? I dunno!...UPDATE: Sue wrote in to suggest "flutter", which is brilliant!) of butterflies going crazy over the lantana. I was forced to stop everything and take some photos. And, now I'm finally getting around to sharing them with you. Enjoy...

Bluehouse at the Cactus

I had the grand opportunity to hear Bluehouse perform twice this week. First, we drove out to Kerrville to watch them in a house concert on Saturday evening. When they announced their US tour, that was the closest they were gonna get to Austin. I immediately signed up and made a reservation at a nearby hotel...then called Diane to see if she was game. Of course she was! Then, about 2 weeks ago, they added a Cactus gig to the tour on Monday night. Cool. Since they're from Australia, we don't get to see 'em play that often. So, when I get a chance, I jump at it. Both shows were fantastic. I took a few photos at the Cactus and thought I'd share some of 'em. Actually, most of 'em.

Wow. Awesome. Truly. It's the last track on the One More Kiss cd. Hearing it in person can't be beat, though.

I'm sure she wasn't saying anything the least bit snarky.

Harmonizing...

Bern broke a string and performed the fastest quick-change act in history. Jacqui took advantage of the downtime to complement the lovely brown water from Shiner...

And, then they picked up without missing a beat. Impressive.

Moss Falls

And, on to the Wild Basin Wilderness Preserve in West Austin, off Loop 360. Along one of the trails, you find little pond fed by a stream that runs down a beautiful moss-covered wall. It's, technically, a waterfall, I suppose. But, it seemed more a Moss Fall to me:

YAB - Yet Another Buzzard

Yep, another buzzard shot. Sue me. I just can't help it. I see one soaring and I have to take a photo. I swear, if there was some other sort of bird soaring around Central Texas, I'd have tons of photos of that bird instead. Honest.

McKinney Falls

As usual, not a lot of water running over (through?) the falls at McKinney Falls. I really need to make an effort to take some shots out there right after a rain. If it ever rains again.
