Rainbow at the Mall
I was driving home the other night and noticed a gorgeous rainbow. I thought about stopping to take a photo but kept driving. Then, as I was driving past the mall, I glanced over just in time to see the rainbow right by the flags outside the mall. So...I dodged right and pulled into the parking lot. And, took this photo:

Lady Bird
I went digging through my archives...looking for a wildflower picture to post today. Actually, I was looking specifically for a photo of a bluebonnet. But then I remembered some photos I took back in April on my way to Bastrop. It was a rather overcast day but the flowers were beautiful. So I had to stop, no matter the dreary sky. And, I got this shot.

It includes a few bluebonnets. I was watching coverage of Lady Bird's public funeral service this evening. She was instrumental in the establishment of the National Wildflower Research Center in 1982. In 1997, it was renamed the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. And, last year it became a part of UT. She graduated from UT. The LBJ Library is on campus. And, she's had lots to do with The University over the years. The Longhorn band was there, at the service, and they ended things today with a rendition of "The Eyes of Texas." The whole crowd stood up and sang. That was cool. I've decided that's how I want my funeral (or wake or whatever) to end. When the time comes. I doubt very seriously that the band will be there, though. Oh well.

Sharks and a Stingray at the Albuquerque Aquarium

I went to New Mexico to visit my grandmother over the weekend. We went to the aquarium on Sunday afternoon. I hadn't been there since shortly after it first opened. It's still a really nice spot. I didn't take many photos inside the aquarium (not enough light) but this one taken at the shark tank came out okay. We stopped at the shark tank for about 15 minutes and these two sharks did not move the whole time we were there. The stingray came and went but the sharks just sat there.

Sunflower with Butterfly
I already told you about stopping to take photos of the sunflowers along FM 969 on Sunday. I took about 6 photos and was walking away when I spotted a butterfly on one of the flowers near the lower half of the plant:

I went out to Bastrop yesterday and stopped along FM 969 to take this photo. I don't know when all the sunflowers showed up but I've been seeing them everywhere over the last few weeks. 'Love how tall they are...and how happy they seem to be!
