Old Glory
Another one from the drive to Bastrop on Saturday:
Details: 1/250 sec at f/6.3, 64 ISO, 105mm focal length (35mm equiv.)
This was snagged on the fence outside the church. Here's a close-up (cropped from the original):
I thought I'd like the cropped shot best. But, after seeing them next to each other, I think I prefer the full shot. Hmmm...maybe not. I just can't decide. I do have to admit that I'm very curious about that thing that looks like a giant pencil about one-third of the way from the right edge of the first view. What is that? Odd. Needless to say, I did not notice it when I took the photo or I would've checked it out! And, it's way too blurry to tell in the picture. It looks like a giant pencil! Heh heh.
UPDATE. Katie called to say that the Big Orange Pencil is just an orange fence post with a white cap. And, after looking further, I'm inclined to agree. You can see another one to the left of it. It's deeper in the brush, but it's there. If you look at the first picture of the church you can see a bunch of green fence posts (also with white caps). The Big Orange Pencil fence posts are quite a bit taller than the green ones...but, they're fence posts nevertheless.
UPDATE #2. Esther thinks the Big Orange Pencils are actually markers for a pipe line of some sort. Now I'm gonna have to stop and investigate the situation the next time I drive out to Bastrop. 'Course I'll have to remember to take 969 when I go out there. And, I'll have to remember to look. What are the chances? They don't seem particularly good, do they? Heh heh heh.
