Big 12 Tournament, Day 5
I nearly forgot to post about the final day of the Big 12 Tournament. Tsk tsk tsk.
The Aggies jumped out to a 2-run lead in the top of the 1st and never looked back. They beat the Bears 14-6 for their first Big 12 Tournament Championship. I watched most of the game and have to say that the Aggies looked good and the Bears looked rather lost.
Two Texas players made the All-Tournament Team. Incredibly, only one Aggie made it. That's one of the most peculiar things I've ever seen. I've never seen an all-tournament team that wasn't loaded with players from the tournament champion. Weird, weird, weird. Here's the list:
- Chance Wheeless, 1b, Texas
- Brock Bond, 2b, Mizzou
- Beamer Weems, ss, Baylor
- Aaron Reza, 3b, OU
- Craig Stinson, c, A&M
- Joseph Hughes, of, OU
- Jordan Danks, of, Texas
- Ty Wright, of, OSU
- Matt Czimskey, dh, Baylor
- Kendal Volz, p, Baylor
- Brad Hutt, p, K-State
- Most Valuable Player: Craig Stinson
Isn't that just odd? I guess it's partly a reflection of the way the tournament is set up. Oh well. On to bigger and better things...
