Game 8: UT-Pan American at Texas
It's the same old weekday game story. I turned the radio on but was too busy (not to mention in and out of my office) to really listen. Austin Wood started, went 5, and got the win. I think UTPA threatened a couple of times. I vaguely recall Keith or Craig saying at some point late in the game (when Alex Posey, maybe?, was pitching) that he got out of a no-out bases-loaded situation. But, don't quote me on that! None of any purported threats came to fruition, though. Texas won 19-0. Yep, you read that right. I did hear them say that Texas broke an all-time record for the number of doubles in a game with 11. The wind was blowing in very hard, though, keeping a few potential home run balls in the park that ended up going for doubles. The Horns sent a bunch of guys to the plate in the 8th and scored 11 runs on 8 hits. It sounded like one of those games where you really wish they'd invoke the 10-run rule...especially since the temperature hovered right around the 50-degree mark. That's downright cold when you've got a strong wind blowing into your face.
