Game 1: Texas at San Diego
After all was said and done, I forgot to tune into the game. I was working away and lost track of time. Thankfully, my mother called and reminded me to turn my radio on. Thanks, Mom!
Alas, the game did not have the outcome I'd hoped for. Final line for Texas: 2 runs, 5 hits, 1 error. For USD: 4 runs, 9 hits, 0 errors. See what I mean? Better luck tomorrow. Hook 'em!
Some of Coach Garrido's post-game comments (as best I could catch them):
- One of the things he really loves about baseball is that it has a way of rewarding the team that plays the hardest. He thinks USD deserved the win by beating the Horns in every aspect of the game.
- It takes the pressure off the team to go for an undefeated season. [Ed. note: heh.]
- Good umpiring on the play on the line drive that went off Kyle's heal. He didn't seem to think the injury to Kyle was too bad but it will have to be checked out and watched closely. Kyle is definitely hobbling around.
- He thinks the Horns need to get tougher mentally.
By the way, radio coverage for tomorrow's game will be joined in progress after the Women's basketball game against Tech.
