Wild turkey

Not the bourbon...

[Wild turkey]

I was visiting the folks yesterday and Dad came into the living room from the porch telling me to get my camera. There was a turkey hanging out back behind the house! So, I grabbed my camera. Alas, the light was not cooperative. I bumped the ISO up to 400 but the photos were still blurry. And, the gobbler would not cooperate. He quickly left the area. About 20 minutes later, I saw that he'd returned. So, I bumped the ISO up even further...to 1600...and went out again. And, again, he decided he'd rather not have anything to do with me. He took off. I followed for a bit and caught a couple of "eh" photos when he got near the road. That was the most light I was gonna get. There's lots of noise in 'em (remember the 1600 ISO) but if I don't zoom in too far, not bad for the web.

'Just makes me want to spend a bunch of money on something like this. (Amazon is currently selling that lens for $4700, fyi, so that idea is nothing more than random silliness.)
