#1 Tower - Jan. 7 - Take #2
I thought about how you can see the Capitol from the Main Mall south of the tower and wanted to get a shot of the tower from the steps of the Capitol. Guess what? You can't really see the tower from the steps of the Capitol. Well, you can. But there's only one spot where you can just see it between two State buildings:
Details: 7 sec at f/11, 100 ISO, 200mm focal length (35mm equiv.)
So, I started thinking about the situation and realized that the fact is, you can only see the dome of the Capitol from the tower steps. You can't see the whole building. I asked one of the DPS troopers guarding the Capitol if there was a way to get out onto the walkway below the dome and was told there wasn't. I didn't walk up to see if that was the case. I probably should have. But, I was tired. I'd picked the wrong shoes that night and my feet weren't really up to the task of climbing the stairs just to see for myself. Maybe I'll do that the next time I've got visitors in from out of town who want to see the Capitol. Maybe.
Anyway, it's kind of an interesting shot.
