Game 4: UT-Arlington at Texas
UT-Arlington came to town and beat Texas 7-5. I missed all but the final inning of the game.
The line:
| Team | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | R | H | E |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| UT-Arlington | 1 | 0 | 4 | 2 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 7 | 7 | 1 |
| Texas | 1 | 2 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 1 | 1 | 5 | 8 | 2 |
The bottom of that last inning was rather exciting and it really looked like the Horns were gonna pull off the comeback. It went like so:
- Jacob Felts reached on an infield single to ss.
- Collin Shaw singled to rf. Tommy Harmon got his arm stuck swinging around like a loon and Felts was thrown out at 3b (9-5). Shaw moved up to 2b on the throw, though, so at least that was good.
- Christian Summers was hit by a pitch.
- Tim Maitland drew a 5-pitch walk to load the bases.
- Which prompted a pitching change for the Mavericks.
- Mark Payton drew a full-count walk after fouling off a couple of pitches, scoring Shaw.
- Which prompted another pitching change. Wheeeee...
- Alex Silver (pinch-hitting for Brooks Marlow) fouled off a few pitches and then struck out swinging. I guess Coach Garrido's gut feeling was wrong in this instance, eh?
- Erich Weiss, sadly, grounded out to 2b to end the game.
So sad. Here's a link to the recap on the TexasSports.com site.
