Austin Regional Tournament, Day 3
Another quick post from my iPhone. As before I'll update as news warrants and then come back and update this post more thoroughly when I get home at the end of the day.
In the first game of the day (fifth game of the tournament), Louisiana-Lafayette played home team to Rice. And, Rice played a great game, winning 9-1. Well, offensively, they played a great 4th, plating 7 runs in said 4th. They got a complete game performance out of Mike Ojala who threw 111 pitches by my count. Rice really needed that if they hope to win tonight and tomorrow.
And, Texas beat Rice 4-1 in the night cap to win the Austin Regional. It was really a great game. Performance of the game has to go to Taylor Jungmann who went 7.2 innings, threw 85 pitches (!), struck out 7, walked 2, and only gave up 1 run on 2 hits. Amazing. He had some great defense backing him up and enough offense to give him some breathing room this evening. Full game report coming soon.
The Horns will now host TCU (who beat Baylor this evening to win their Regional) in the Super Regional Tournament this coming weekend...specific dates and times yet to be determined. Hook 'em, Horns!
Oh. One more thing. The All-Tournament Team for the Austin Regional:
