Austin Regional Tournament, Day 2

Just a quick post from my iPhone. Like yesterday I'll update as news warrants and then come back and update this post more thoroughly when I get home at the end of the day.

In the first game of the day (third game of the tournament), Rider played host to Rice. Rice went up early and stayed that way, winning the game 19-1. Rider did not score their lone run until the bottom of the 9th. It was a very long and rather tedious game, sadly. The highlight of the day were the three homeruns hit by Anthony Rendon which sets a new Disch-Falk Field record (most homeruns hit by one player in one game at DFF). Rider now heads back to New Jersey and Rice will face the loser of tonight's game tomorrow at 1 o'clock. By the way, Rice pulled starter Taylor Wall in the 4th. Wall was throwing a perfect game to that point and had tossed 43 pitches by my count. 'Guess they're hoping to use him again if they can win tomorrow.

UPDATE. And, Texas pulled off another nice win this evening, beating Louisiana-Lafayette 4-2, which moved ULL to the loser's bracket game tomorrow where they'll face Rice. The winner of that game will have to turn around and play Texas at 6:30. If Texas wins that game, they win the Tournament. If Texas loses, the same two teams will have to play each other again in a deciding game on Monday afternoon at 1 o'clock.
