Big 12 Tournament note

I managed, just barely, to get my 2009 postseason schedule online in time for the Big 12 Tournament (it's linked in the sidebar on the main page). Whew. Things have been a little crazy the last couple of days. Anyway...

The sad news is that Texas will be playing afternoon games on Wednesday and Thursday. Which means that I'll have to try and listen from my desk at work. Lately, I have not been spending a whole lot of time at my desk so I hope it works out. You know I'll be trying to make it work out!

Texas faces Baylor at 12:30 on Wednesday, Kansas at 3:00 on Thursday, and Kansas State at 12:30 on Saturday. These teams make up Pool 1 in the tournament. OU, Mizzou, A&M, and Tech make up the teams in Pool 2. Both pools play round-robin tournaments. Winners of the tournaments (with tie-breaker determined by head-to-head match-ups and then Tournament seeding) face off on Sunday at 1:00 for the Tournament Championship. Please note that the start times for the Wednesday and Saturday games are tentative. They will both depend on whether or not the 9 o'clock games end on time or run long. It's been my experience that there are at least 1 or 2 extra-inning games every year during the tournament. The 10-run rule will be in effect for all pool-play games but not for the Championship game.

In Sunday's radio interview following the Alabama A&M double-header, Coach Garrido said the rotation would be Cole Green for the first game, Chance Ruffin for the second, and Taylor Jungmann for the third. Green would likely start in the Championship game, assuming Texas gets there. And, we all know that Texas will get there. Right? Right!

Okay...I'll be back with more as I'm able. Here's hoping the Horns sweep on through the Tournament. Hook 'em!

PS: Go read about the 2009 Big 12 Baseball Postseason Awards at the TexasSports.com site. Austin Wood and Chance Ruffin made the first team. Connor Rowe made the second team. Cameron Rupp, Brandon Belt, Brandon Loy, Michael Torres, and Kevin Keyes received Honorable Mentions.
