Big 12 Tournament - Day 3 summary

Nebraska beat Kansas State 5-2 in the first game of the day, putting both teams at 1-1 in the tournament.

In the late game, Oklahoma State run-ruled Baylor 14-3 in 7 innings. Also, putting both of those teams at 1-1 in the tournament.

Which means that there will be two teams with 2-1 records in Pool 2 (#2 OSU, #3 Nebraska, #6 Baylor, and #7 KSU) by the end of the day tomorrow. One of those teams will have a win over the other earlier in the tournament. And, that team is the one that will advance.

In Pool 1: OU is 2-0, Texas and Missouri are 1-1, and Texas A&M is 0-2. The Aggies are the only team that has no chance of advancing to the Championship game on Sunday.

So, going into the penultimate day of the tournament, OU (with a record of 2-0 in the tourney) is the only team that controls its own destiny. How ironic is that? OU barely made it into the tournament. And, now they're in the driver's seat. As Coach Garrido likes to say: that's why they play the games. If you knew what was going to happen, what would be the point of suiting up?

I'm looking forward to tomorrow's games. I will be hanging out with my parents who are having some folks over for an early Memorial Day celebration, though. Fair warning: most likely, I probably won't be posting until rather late in the evening.
