Big 12 Tournament, Day 3
Oh. My. Goodness.
I know nothing about the first game of the day other than the score. Baylor beat Missouri 10-5.
The second game, though. Wow. The Cowboys scored 3 in the top of the 1st inning and seemed to be coasting to a fairly easy victory over the Sooners. OU scored single runs in the 2nd and 4th. The Cowboys scored 2 more in the 7th and 3 in the 8th. So, they were up 8-2 going into the bottom of the 8th. They gave up 2 runs in the 8th but were still up 8-4 going into the bottom of the 9th. With the bases loaded, no runs across, and 2 out, Baker singled to lf (rbi, bases still loaded). Hughes then singled up the middle (2 rbi, runners at 1b and 2b, 2 outs). Cowboys still up 8-7 with 2 outs. Grosse walked to load the bases. With a pinch hitter at the plate, Jordy Mercer threw a wild pitch. Baker scored, and the other runners advanced a base. Game tied. The next pitch thrown by Mercer was also wild. In point of fact, more wild. Hughes scored. Game over.
Oh. My. Goodness.
Can you imagine? Up 8-2 going into the bottom of the 8th and losing the game on back-to-back wild pitches? Mercer had 1 wild pitch on the year going into this evening's game. You just never know what's gonna happen in the game of baseball. I love it.
So. The "other" pool did not go the way of "our" pool. Mizzou and OSU are out of contention. The winner of the Baylor/OU game will move on to the Championship Game.
I can not get over the ending of that OSU/OU game. Wow.
