Disch-Falk renovation photos, part 9

I arrived at Disch-Falk in the 7th inning. I think. This was the view of the stands as I walked in:

[The grandstand]

As you can see, it was completely overcast. But, it was warm. In the 70s! And, dry. And, oh yeah...the grass. They've sodded the berm. Not a stitch of grass there yesterday morning when I stopped by. Today? Sod, a fence, and "keep off the grass" signs!

The "facilities" question is, in fact, rather dire:

[The facilities]

Lots of "chem cans" and only one trailer.

Here's a wide-angle view from my seat:

And, looking toward the rf corner:

The Texas bullpen:

It'll become the visiting team bullpen next year.

The current visiting team bullpen:

Not a great photo...what with the net and all. I was too lazy to walk to a spot where I could avoid the net. Tsk tsk tsk. There are a couple of things that tickled my fancy in the photo. First, there are the construction workers taking a break and getting to watch the game. As soon as the game ended, I could hear construction noise underneath the grandstand. I didn't notice any during the game, though. 'Wonder if they get paid to watch? Sweet deal, if so! The second thing: note the lit sign way past the bullpen? Last year, that sign was just outside the visitor dugout. And now? It's way off in the corner where I doubt it does much good at all. I'm guessing it's basically being stored there and will move closer to the action at some point. But, why use it now? It's just bizarre.

The press box:

And, now...the most annoying thing about the renovation:

[Speakers]

There are lots and lots and lots of speakers. Really really really REALLY LOUD speakers. Ugh.

Man. I hope they do something about the volume of the sound system. It's way too much. And, we all thought it was bad last year. What fools we were. We had absolutely no idea how good we had it.

By the way, this'll probably be the last in my series of Disch-Falk renovation photos. At least, for this season. We shall see. I will post more if the situation warrants.
