Austin Regional - All Tournament Team and a comment on Stanford
The All-Tournament team:
- Greg Reynolds, p, Stanford
- Gib Hobson, p, NC-State
- John Hester, c, Stanford
- Aaron Bates, 1b, NC-State
- Chris Lewis, 2b, Stanford
- Chris Minaker, ss, Stanford
- Randy Molina, 3b, Stanford
- Michael Taylor, of, Stanford
- Matt Camp, of, NC-State
- Carson Kainer, of, Texas
- Jon Still, dh, NC-State
- Most Outstanding Player: Chris Minaker, Stanford
Granted, I didn't see any games from any of the other Regionals (I was at all the Austin games and I don't have ESPN-U) so my take is doubtlessly a bit limited. But, I have to say that I think Stanford's chances have to be pretty good to advance past the Super Regional and go deep at the CWS. For a team to come into Disch-Falk and dominate the way they did is pretty impressive. Mark Marquess hasn't won a CWS in nearly 20 years. He did get teams into the Championship game/series in three of the last six College World Series, though. Do you suppose he's due?
