Alumni news roundup

At the end of the article in the Statesman about last night's game, there's a note about Keith Moreland:

Texas radio announcer Keith Moreland has accepted a position as a roving minor-league hitting instructor with the Washington Nationals. The former Texas All-American was introduced along with former major-leaguers Dante Bichette and Darnell Coles by Nationals assistant general manager for player personnel Bob Boone, his former teammate with the Philadelphia Phillies. The 51-year-old Moreland said he will schedule his new gig around radio broadcasts for KVET-AM (1300) and his head coaching position at St. Stephens High School.

And, training camp news:

Several former Longhorns who've been in training camp in Florida and Arizona have been assigned to minor league teams over the last few weeks; among them: J. Brent Cox, Brandon Fahey, J.P. Howell, Ryan Hubele, Phil Seibel, and Taylor Teagarden.

As of this posting, Scott Dunn, Brad Halsey, and Omar Quintanilla are still listed on the active rosters of their respective MLB clubs. And, Curtis Thigpen is still in the Blue Jays' camp...but he's a non-roster invitee.
