Disch-Falk Renovation
UT held a press conference yesterday to formally announce renovation plans for Disch-Falk Field. The renovations will start as soon as the 2006 season ends and the new field will be known as UFCU Disch-Falk Field. UFCU is kicking in $13.1 million so they get to have their name on the Field. UT has set up a page where you can follow the progress of the project.
I have to admit that I've been dreading this announcement. My main concerns are purely selfish. I don't want to lose my seats. The seats I've had since 1989. The ones looking straight down the 1b line. I'm betting I'll lose 'em, though. Maybe not. I sure hope not. I also don't want to lose the shade. And, all the modern parks seem to be set up with almost no shade over the seats. If you want shade, you have to stand on a parch overlooking the seats. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
I should point out that the term being bandied about is "renovated." They don't seem to be talking about tearing aything down. So, maybe I'm worrying over naught.

The schedule for fall practices and the Fall World Series has been posted on the texassports.com site. I don't think I'll be able to get out there much but I'll try.
