Alumni News: Hollimon

'Got an email message (Hi, Kris!) asking what I knew about Michael Hollimon's current status and I didn't know. So, I went looking. And, it looks like he's doing quite well. He's playing with the Oneonta Tigers (in Oneonta, NY). It's a Class A Short-Season affiliate of the Detroit Tigers. He was picked for his league's all-star game to be played this coming Tuesday. He's leading the NY-Penn league in three categories through last Tuesday: he had league-bests in homers (12), triples (7) and runs scored (47). Pretty cool. Update (Aug. 27th): Alas, Michael's team didn't do so well (5-4 loss). And, Michael went 0-for-2 with a couple of strikeouts. He didn't seem too terribly upset, though. Quote:

"We didn’t represent," Hollimon said with a laugh. "We had a good time out there. Everything was awesome. You’re always disappointed to lose. You always want to win; that's why you play the game. But if there’s ever a time losing is acceptable, it's this game."
