I love wild flowers. One of the best things about living in Central Texas is being here in the spring when they're found in plentitude along the highways. Finding wild flowers to take pictures of is one of my favorite pastimes. I took this picture on the trip I took to Alaska in 1988. It's a lupine...a cousin to the Texas bluebonnet (the state flower of Texas). I was quite surprised to find them in Alaska. "Hey! Bluebonnets!" I shrieked when I spied my first one. The Alaskan variety is a bit smaller and seems to have more pink in it than the Texas variety. Taking pictures of flowers is tough. Wind...even the slightest breeze (and there's always at least a slight breeze)...wrecks havoc on the process. I guess that's part of the reason I love taking pictures of flowers so much.
