My grandmother went with me on one of the trips I took to Peru to visit my folks. We spent a couple of days in Huaraz. The countryside was gorgeous. We ended up trying to see how close we could get to the incredibly jagged peaks of the nearby mountains. We were in a full-sized van and my grandmother started getting verrrry nervous as we wound up the narrow dirt road. We finally had to give up when the road got so narrow, the driver's side was less than a foot from the road-cut in the side of the mountain and there was only about a foot between the passenger side tires and the edge of the road. Going over the edge would've meant rolling and rolling forever. Dad ended up having to back down quite a distance before he could get the van turned around. The trip up was worth it, though, as I got some great photos! This is just one of them.
