The Horns seemed much more relaxed today and were nearly flawless (no errors!) in the field which was great to see. However, they did squander several opportunities on the offensive end of things.

On a somewhat unrelated note, I wonder if the appearance of 4 umps in this evening's game (the first time all year there've been more than 3) had anything to do with the several close calls in last weekend's series against KSU? 'Bet it did. And, I bet all remaining conference games get 4 umps. Hmmm...

Game summary:

1st inning
- OU:
  - Wathan swung at the first pitch and hit a single to lf.
  - Hill bunted safely past the pitcher toward 2b. Wathan moved to 3b.
  - Flores went down swinging (1-2 count).
  - Bookout singled up the middle (rbi). Wathan scored. Hill moved to 3b.
  - Hart was called out on strikes (1-2 count).
  - Park reached on a 5-4 fielder's choice.
- Texas:
  - Harkrider singled up the middle.
  - Walsh hit a sacrifice bunt down the 1b line. Harkrider moved to 2b.
  - Loeffler doubled to the cf/rf gap (rbi). Harkrider scored. Loeffler tried to stretch the double into a triple and was gunned down at 3b on a great relay throw by Wathon (OU ss) -- bad judgment on 3b coach Harmon's part, imo.
  - Johnson grounded out to 2b.

- Texas:

  - Kiemsteadt (pinch-hitting for Spiker) walked (full count).
  - OU sent Geary in to pitch.
