Game 40: Texas at Kansas

I watched the Kansas internet stream (via CBS-Sports) and this game report is based on that broadcast. The line (from GameTracker):

[boxscore]

Sadly, the Horns lost 2-4. It didn't really feel like a "Saturday blahs" loss. But, the team did seem a bit flat. In his post-game interview, Coach Garrido said basically that it's hard to believe but the Horns played better than the Jayhawks...but the cruel game of baseball didn't care about that. Not sure I buy it. The Horns stranded 9 batters...5 of them in scoring position. And, the bullpen did not shut down the Kansas offense as they've been doing of late. The Horns did not play poorly but they didn't really play inspired baseball, either. It was a disappointing loss, but not a terrible one.

Anyway...the line-ups:

Texas  Kansas
Brandon Loy (ss)
Mark Payton (rf)
Tant Shepherd (1b)
Erich Weiss (3b)
Paul Montalbano (cf)
Kevin Lusson (c)
Lucas Kephart (dh)
Jonathan Walsh (lf)
Jordan Etier (2b)
Brandon Macias(ss)
Jason Brunansky (cf)
Jimmy WAters (lf)
Zac Elgie (1b)
Jake Marasco (dh)
Casey Lytle (rf)
Alex DeLeon (c)
Jordan Dreiling (3b)
Kaiana Eldredge (2b)

And, here's how things played out...

The Horns now come home to host Texas State on Tuesday and then Oklahoma over the weekend. Hook 'em!
