Alumni news: Aspito, Thigpen, Howell, Quintanilla
I went to New Mexico for a few days to visit my grandmother and just got back to checking on signings and what not. While doing that, I came across a few tidbits regarding our esteemed alumni:
- The Edmonton Cracker-Cats released Jason Aspito.
- The Blue Jays sent Curtis Thigpen back to Syracuse. While with the Blue Jays, he scored 7 runs on 10 hits (1 double), hit .270, batted in 4, and walked twice in 17 games (37 at-bats).
- The Devil Rays sent J.P. Howell back to Durham on Friday. He went 1-3 with the Devil Rays in 7 starts in June and July. That win came in his first start against his old team (the Royals). He went 8 innings that day and gave up 1 earned run while striking out 7. Wow. He gave up only 1 earned run in his 3rd start and went 7 innings but, alas, took the loss. He struggled as time went on and only went .2 innings in his final start while giving up 6 earned runs.
- The Rockies recalled Omar Quintanilla on Friday. He appeared in 14 games with the Rockies in May and hit .256 with 3 doubles and 5 runs scored.
