OT: South Carolina players kicked off team

Riddle me this. Two players (Lonnie Chisenhall and Nick Fuller) were kicked off the South Carolina baseball team a few days ago after admitting to stealing several thousand dollars worth of property from a dorm room and the baseball office. Undoubtedly, that was the right thing for the team to do. And, if you point your browser to Google News and plop their names in the search box, quite a few news articles pop up with details on the situation. But, if you go to the official Gamecock baseball page, not a word on the dismissals. The players names have been removed from the roster. But, they're not removed from individual game reports and their player bios are (as I post this) still on the site.

Here's my question: why is there no official comment on the dismissals on the baseball page? There's no acknowledgement at all to be found. There's also no comment to be found on the university's page. I find it odd. I know there's never any mention on the TexasSports.com page when a player leaves the team. They just change the roster. And, unless you watch that space carefully, you might not ever notice. But. In this case? With lots of media attention...they choose to say nothing? It just strikes me as odd. I wonder if other teams do the same thing? Did Texas do this when Omar Quintanilla got into trouble and was suspended for part of the season? Hmmm... Apparently not. That's really not much of a statement. But, it is a statement. Good for them.
