CWS - Day 1

Wow. Who would've predicted that? In the first game, Georgia Tech was coasting along 4-0 in the 8th when Clemson went nuts. They scored 8 in the bottom of the 8th and won 8-4.

And then, in the nightcap, in what was being touted as a big-time pitchers' duel, North Carolina and Cal State Fullerton both scored early. The game was tied at 5 in the 5th when the pitchers' duel started up. And went on and on and on and on and... Finally, in the 13th, North Carolina scored two. Cal State Fullerton, who'd missed a couple of chances to win the game, wasn't able to answer and North Carolina won 7-5. Wow.

As I was thinking about things this morning, I decided that Cal State Fullerton was the team most likely to win this side of the bracket. But, they've sure set themselves up for a tough road by going so many extra innings and then losing. They've got lots of pitching. But, do they have enough after that first game? I guess we'll find out in due time, eh?
