Game 21: Long Beach State at Texas

Texas lost their first home game of the year this afternoon. Andrew Carpenter threw a great game for Long Beach State and that made all the difference in the world. Much as I hated to see the Horns lose, I got to see my friend Liz which was great. I sat with her down at her seats for the bulk of the game. It's always funny sitting in different seats. I've been sitting in the same seat at Disch-Falk for 15 years or so. I've gotten used to the angles and noises from there. When I sat with Liz down near the team's dugout today, everything just looked and sounded so different. You can hear the impact of the ball when a player gets hit by a pitch. There's a thunk. You can't hear that from my nose-bleed seats. You can pretty much make out what Tommy Harmon's yelling at the home plate ump. From my seats, you can tell he saying something. And, you can guess what it is. But, you can't hear the actual words. It was fun. Too bad the Horns lost.

The line, for those of you that care:

RHE
LBSU 030 020 000 - 570
Texas 200 000 100 - 380

Here's hoping the team can win the series tomorrow. Hook 'em!
