Kyle McCulloch Recognized for Team USA Play
From texassports.com: McCulloch earns first-team Summer All-America honors from Baseball America. Kyle had a great summer with the USA Baseball National team. 'Makes you look forward to the spring, doesn't it? Here's the complete list of Summer All-Americans from Baseball America.
By the way, I don't usually post about what's going on around the rest of the Big 12 but thought I'd point out that the Sooners and Aggies appointed new head coaches over the summer. Actually, the Aggies ended up reaplacing the entire coaching crew. The specifics:
- A&M named Rob Childress as their head coach on June 22nd. Childress had been the Associate Head Coach at Nebraska. Also joining the staff are Matt Deggs (recently the hitting coach at Arkansas) and Jeremy Talbot (who coached at Jacksonville State in Alabama last year).
- OU named Sunny Golloway as their head coach on July 15th. Golloway had been serving as Interim Head Coach after Larry Cochell resigned last spring. Also joining the staff is Tim Tadlock from Grayson County College.
Also, from the Baseball America site: an article about the Tulane and New Orleans baseball programs. I'd been wondering how they were going to handle things in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. News about the other sports teams is also available from Baseball America.
