More Alumni in the News
This page is getting pretty long. I'm starting to think I might have to start a second page that's just devoted to news about our former Longhorns. We shall see. In the meantime, some news (as usual, use bugmenot.com if you don't want to register with the sites requiring registration):
- Notes: Quintanilla staying relaxed; Rookie shortstop off to a good start in the big leagues by Jason P. Skoda (Special to MLB.com)
- CD's Phuture Phillie Phenoms... Class-A Teams by Allen Ariza - Some interesting stuff about Tim Moss.
- O's ace Smith injures ankle in loss to Billings by Kim Briggeman (Missoulian) - J.D. Reining, Will Crouch and Sam LeCure...all in the same article.
- Mustangs pound Rockies with 20-hit barrage by Mike Scherting (Billings Gazette) - Second-to-last paragraph: fun stuff about Sam LeCure.
- Motivation easy for Ontiveros; Blue Rocks catcher enjoys every moment of game by Melanie Ho (The News Journal) - Very nice article (with photos) about Jeff.
- Baysox: Fahey emerges as a strength for Bowie by John McNamara (The Capital) - Brandon Fahey's coming on! The article also mentions Ryan Hubele.
And, then there was this: "Before the game, utility infielder Tommy Nicholson asked for and was granted his release." That quote was the last line in an article about a Birmingham Barons game on August 4th. And, that's it. He'd only signed on with the team on July 23rd. In his first game the following day, he had a good day at the park:
Nicholson went 3-for-3, scored a run and drove in three runs with a double, two singles and a sacrifice fly.
That's all I could find. Interesting, eh? I wonder what it all means.
