Hudson, Quintanilla, Clemens, Cox, Teagarden
Not much to report 'round here what with it being the off-season and all. But, I went looking around this evening and found a few bits of news:
- Robby Hudson (who, like Will Crouch, went un-drafted last month) signed a deal with the Mariners. Cool. He's currently on the roster with the Everett AquaSox, their Class A Short-Season farm team. I know nuthin' 'bout that team but had to do a big "Whoa!" when I saw the uniform pictured in this game report. How can anyone not love a team that'll wear that jersey? Wow.
- Omar Quintanilla was part of a trade between the A's and Rockies. He's been assigned to the Colorado Springs Sky Sox. So, we won't be seeing him and Huston on the same infield anytime soon.
- Koby Clemens signed with the Astros ($380K bonus according to the Houston Chronicle). I'm not sure why but I was surprised to see that news. I guess I shouldn't have been. I wonder how much the incentive to keep Papa Clemens on the roster had to do with the negotiations? That bonus seems very high for an 8th round pick.
- I found a couple of notes that J. Brent Cox signed with the Yankees at the beginning of the month but can find no official confirmation of the news. Things that make you go hmmmm...
- No news on Taylor Teagarden signing. But, he's got Scott Boras as an agent so he may end up sitting out for a year. Ugh.
