Campus Watch #51
From today's Campus Watch crime report:
T.S. Painter Hall (103 West 24th Street)
Burglary: An unknown subject(s) entered a 3rd floor room and caused damage to a computer security system in what appeared to be an obvious attempt to steal the computer. A security alarm system was activated and aided in the prevention of the theft. Repair cost: $35.00. Occurred on 09/27/08 at 1:50 p.m.
So...was it an apparent theft attempt or an obvious theft attempt? 'Cause I don't think it can really be both. Can it?

Ike
Check out The Big Picture for some amazing Hurricane Ike photos. Wow.
UPDATE. Here are some truly horrifying images. I do hope all the people in those homes evacuated before Ike made landfall.

Happy Birthday, Mom!
It's my mom's birthday. Happy happy.
She and Dad are in New Mexico so I won't get to give her a proper birthday hug 'til sometime late in October. So far, she reports that it's been a good day. She's got a web page and a blog (!) so go check 'em out.
'Love you, Mom!

Campus Watch #50
From today's Campus Watch crime report:
200 East 24th Street
Leaving the Scene Collision: A parked and unattended silver 2004 Honda was struck in the left quarter panel. The driver of the striking vehicle did not leave identifying information. At the time of the report, a 1988 Honda was found parked to the left of the struck vehicle. The 1988 Honda had fresh damage to its right front quarter panel. The damage to the 1988 Honda matched in height, extent of damage and paint color transfer to the damage on the 2004 Honda. We in law enforcement call this a clue. The owner of the 1988 Honda did not recall striking the 2004 Honda, but could not account for the fresh damage on his vehicle. Reported on 08/29/08 at 3:20 p.m.
"We in law enforcement call this a clue." Heh heh. You don't suppose the driver of the 1988 Honda was somehow "impaired" when he parked said Honda...do you?
