I just had one of those "Radio Joanna" moments with my iPod...one of those moments that make me love my iPod 'cause there's nowhere else on earth I'm likely to hear certain musical combinations. The song that finished playing on my iPod about 2 minutes ago: "Lady Marmalade" by Patti Labelle. The song currently playing on my iPod: "If You Ain't Lovin' (You Ain't Livin')" by George Strait. I love it! Heh heh.

And, while I'm here...a couple of entries from today's Campus Watch crime report:

Assist Outside Agency (Darrell K. Royal Texas Memorial Stadium)
Several patrons at the 2005 National Championship Football team Celebration reported a belligerent non-UT subject in section 5 of the stadium. The subject continued being belligerent during the police officer's interview. The subject increased his level of belligerence when it was determined had an outstanding outside agency arrest warrant for failing to appear in court for the charge of aggressive solicitation. Occurred on 01-15-06 at 5:00 PM.

Hmmmm...the subject continued being belligerent when speaking with a police officer, eh? And, he'd been cited for aggressive solicitation, eh? Big surprise there. Heh. And, much later the following evening:

Public Intoxication (Ashbell Smith Hall, 201 West 7th Street)
A non-UT subject was reported as stumbling into traffic. The responding officer found the subject laying down in the vehicular entranceway to a parking garage. The subject initially refused to provide her identification and simply told the officer to "go ahead and take me to jail." The subject was found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage to the point she was a physical endangerment to herself. For that reason, her request was granted. Occurred on 01-17-06 at 1:23 AM.

I didn't know the UT Police Department was in the business of granting wishes. Interesting.

You've seen the 37th Street Christmas lights, right? Daniel Mottola reports in the Chronicle that the folks who started the display are selling and moving away:

The owners of 310 W. 37th, the main attraction house in the block's Christmas light extravaganza, have announced that they are selling their home and moving away. Jamie Lipman, a co-founder of the electrified yuletide display, said he and his wife are tired of the noise and traffic that has become commonplace on the street year-round. Lipman has lived in the house for 16 years and on the street for nearly 30. He remembers a large number of renters when he moved to 37th as a renter himself, but as other homeowners stated in a "Naked City" report last week, Lipman says noisy college renters have made the street too rowdy, and that a place in the country could be a better place to raise their 4-year-old daughter. He emphasized that the lights had nothing to do with their decision. "We are going to try to screen potential buyers to find someone more than willing to carry on the tradition," Lipman said. It is doubtful, however, that his Clark Griswold-like legacy, complete with a front and backyard walking tour of lights, will be carried on with quite the same excessive, mesmerizing zeal.

Shucks. 'Makes you a little sad.

The funny thing is that if you pay attention, you just might see Steven! He shows up briefly at about a minute into the video watching one of those Silver Spurs fellas being a goof:

Yes, I have some Rose Bowl related photos to post. Dunno when I'll get to 'em, though. There's a lot of stuff to process. However, here's something I just have to post now:

'Went out to Bastrop to see the folks yesterday afternoon. As I drove onto their street, I saw this pack of buzzards (okay, technically, it was probably a flock of 'em but do you really think of buzzards as roaming in flocks?) circling around overhead. Dad said they're there a lot...that there must be something in that little bunch of trees and hills that makes for fun air currents. Or something. Maybe there was some lovely little piece of road kill waiting to rot to just the right amount of rotten-ness. I dunno. But, I couldn't take my eyes off 'em. Their wings would glisten in such a cool manner in the setting sun. So, I grabbed my camera and went to work. Most of the shots weren't very good at all. The sun was making it's way westward and wasn't being very cooperative. And, the birds would flap at just the wrong moment. And, it went on. But this shot. Cool, eh? I like it! Heh.
